Buziraguhindwa is one out of four communal washing stations owned by the producer Salum Ramadhan situated in the high altitudes Kayanza in Burundi. Salum's extremely detail oriented, spends a lot of time to train local staff and have a great loyal work force. He produces mostly washed coffees, but is also experimenting with naturals with cherries delivered by farmers who live close enough to the washing station. These small farm-holders generally own lands less than a hectare with a couple of hundred coffee trees. After the cherries arrive at the washing station, Salum separates the coffees both by area and date of picking until it's cupped and approved. The cherries are also floated and hand sorted before it is pulped, fermented soaked and dried on raised beds.
