Brazil Fazenda Carmel Vivá

Nylon Coffee Roasters

When we visited Brazil last year, we had to cup through many rounds of samples in order to find something we wanted to showcase at Nylon. We ended up shortlisting 3 coffees from different partner farms of Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF). One of them is from the producer, Maria Angela Loguercio Bouskela and her children, Daniel and Beatriz. Maria and her family are very passionate about nature and sustainable agriculture. 12 years ago, they bought a special piece of land in the mountainous region of Monte Santo de Minas, South Minas Gerais, with their hard-earned savings. Starting from scratch, they have been cultivating and growing the farm into the current 50 hectares of coffee. At an average altitude of 1100 meters, the native trees’ shadow, pure water from protected natural springs and mild weather, create a unique environment for the coffee trees to produce quality cherries.

At Carmel Vivá, they count on the professionalism of Donizete Lamana, who has been administering the daily duties in the last 8 years. They also have a very good and stable team of employees who take care of the trees throughout the year, with extra care taken during the important harvest season. The family and farm employees cherish the teamwork towards the goal of producing the most delicious coffee possible. Maria and her children also value the partnership with FAF, as their values about sustainability, quality, respect to nature and human beings, are aligned with Carmel Vivá.

This coffee has a good balance of dried stonefruits at the beginning, toffee and hazelnuts in the finish. Sweet and clean, this coffee has the attributes that make it a very enjoyable cup. Its creamy texture brings additional enjoyment to every sip. As we only bought one bag of this coffee, we expect this to sell out quite soon, so grab a bag before it disappears off our rack.
